Luckily, men with an aversion to shopping have been
given a reprieve by a Scottish retail centre, which is
providing surrogate boyfriends to accompany female
customers around the shops.
Braehead Shopping Centre in Glasgow recently began
testing a scheme that lets women drop off their
recalcitrant partners at a kind of ‘boyfriend
cache’, and then borrow a fresh new
‘shopper-friendly’ version for a few
hours.
According to drinks company Lucozade Energy, which is
behind the pilot scheme, the ‘shopping
boyfriend’ is the ultimate retail specialist
– enthusiastic, attentive, admiring,
complimentary and happy to browse for hours on end.
Lucozade decided to launch the scheme after a poll
showed ‘shopping’ was one of the most
dreaded words for young men – coming just
behind ‘babies’.
